If you have ever owned a Yamaha Guitar or Bass you know that they are great value for money and offer incredible quality at every price point. This is no different on the LL16-12 ARE acoustic or the rest of the L series with ARE. With solid rosewood back and sides topped off with a lovely piece of solid engelmann spruce this guitar is a traditional medium sized dreadnaught style acoustic delivers a wonderfully loud and dynamic sound. Known for its volume and clarity the LL body shape has fantastic tonal balance and is a great choice for any style of player.
A.R.E. Treatment On The Top
While the woods used alone are enough to justify this guitars position as a great value instrument. Yamaha have treated the top with their Acoustic Resonance Enhancement that previously was only available on their higher end Japanese made instruments. This treatment artificially ages the wood through precisely controlling temperature, humidity and pressure during the manufacturing process. Older acoustic have a certain played in sound that will only come with time but this treatment gets it pretty much spot on right out of the box. This means you don't need to worry about aging it yourself and waiting 3 years to take it on the road as it is now ready straight away.
6 More Strings
12 string guitars while not being the most common guitars to see day to day, have appeared on records with John Lennon, Bob Marley, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Richie Sambora and many more. The extra 6 strings are tuned to an octave above their partnered string which gives this guitar bright overtones and a chorus effect that comes from frequency disparities between the normal and octaved strings. If you don't have a 12 string in your arsenal and want to get one that will work with any style you can not go wrong with this wonder.
Simple Hardware
You may be looking at this guitar and wondering why we called it an electro acoustic when it doesn't have a preamp. That is because instead of focusing on adding in active hardware this acoustic has an entirely passive pickup system. This does mean that you need to plug this guitar into a DI or acoustic preamp to get the most out of it but it does give you a crisper clearer sound with great low end response. Also as you will most likely use an external preamp with this guitar you can really get a sound that is specific to you. Have the guitar be a high quality guitar and let an external preamp of your choice create your sound.
New Comfortable Neck
No matter if you are a traditional folk style guitarist or prefer a more modern feel the LL16-12 ARE will feel great in your hands. Although the new neck is rounder and with a slimmer taper this guitar still has a traditional acoustic feel that suits itself best to strumming players who like to finger pick occasionally. Speaking of the neck it now also has a 5 ply mahogany and rosewood design. This makes the neck a lot stronger and more stable so it won't twist or warp.
